Toy Drive Scores Big for the Nighthawks

Fans of the San Francisco Nighthawks took up the challenge at the July 3rd game and delivered in a big way. Fans easily filled two full barrels of toys destined for distribution by members of the San Francisco Elk’s Club Lodge #3. The toys will be delivered to children in need as part of the Elks’ Christmas in July event. This is meant to fill the gap when toy deliveries were made impossible last December due to COVID restrictions.

Nearly a hundred toys will make their way into the community. Thanks to the support of loyal fans, including many of our own residents at The Cove and Parkmerced. The team is using Parkmerced as their base of operations throughout the season so they can enjoy more homey surroundings. It has become their home away from home.

It’s been an amazing season already for the soccer club. Everyone’s in top form and Mission High School senior Raquel Lau, who has been on the roster for three years, won 2021 Player of the Year. Three other Nighthawks received honorary mention in the annual nominations.

More soccer fun…

  • The Nighthawks will also be doing soccer demonstrations and hosting a free ticket raffle for residents at The Market this Saturday, July 17 from 11 am – 1 pm. The Market is a new weekly gathering that celebrates diversity and connects our residents and local community with purveyors, creators, and experiences.

  • See the team in action and support them as they continue through to the end of the season ($10 adults/children 16 and under free).

  • The next clinic for kids is Saturday Aug. 7 (ages 6-13 from 9 am to 10 am; ages 14+ from 10:15 am – 12:00 pm). For more information and to sign up, visit this link.
