DAY 2 | Savor Slowly
Enjoy a meal today during which you stay fully focused on your intake. Don't take out your phone, no cruising the Internet, no texting, no posting your food. Consider this your personal ceremony of self. You deserve it. Create space to truly savor the moments you nourish yourself. Use a favorite dish, pick some flowers, look around for colors that bring you joy and sculpt a sensory place setting to feast your eyes as well as your taste buds. It can be as simple or sensational as you wish.
When you get distracted by thoughts of things to do or start thinking about something else, just place that thought in a real or an imaginary bowl on the side and focus on the food you are eating. That bowl will be there when you are satisfied.
Chew slowly and as you swallow, notice how the food feels in your throat. Place all your attention on the sensations of texture, temperature and taste.
Eating peacefully and consciously actually gives your mind a rest, which supports your ability to digest. This process also helps you notice the amount you are eating and the quality of food your body requires.
